[USA] PEPSI Scholarship Program

Overview

The PepsiCo Foundation made a $250,000 contribution to the Foundation's New Century Fund Campaign, creating the Pepsi Scholarship Fund to benefit graduating seniors from the Marriott Hospitality High School in Washington, D.C. This endowed gift provides perpetual scholarships to graduates of the Marriott High School who are enrolled in undergrad hospitality-related degree programs.

Eligibility Criteria
Minimum eligibility criteria for nominees are:

• Graduate of Marriott High School in Washington, D.C.
• Enrolled in at least 12 credit hours for upcoming fall and spring semesters.
• Worked at least 250 hours in the hotel/hospitality industry.
• Have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Scholarship Awards
Award amounts can range from $500 to $3,000 depending upon enrollment and recommended amount from school.

Do not apply for 2008 academic scholarship or attempt to edit an existing 2007 academic scholarship. The Foundation will not review any academic scholarships reviewed between May 2 - December 31. If you are interested in applying for 2008 scholarship, you must do after January 1, 2008.

Application Process
Pepsi Scholarships are School Nominated which means students are nominated by Marriott High School in Washington, D.C. Marriott High School seniors and graduates should check with their principal's office to be considered for these scholarships. All student nominees must complete all sections of the AH&LEF Scholarship Application. Additionally, under separate cover, Marriott High School is required to send a transmittal form confirming its nominees and suggested award amounts. AH&LEF will not consider applicants without nomination verification from Marriott High School.

USA-The American Express Scholarship Competition

[USA] The American Express Scholarship Competition

Overview

Founded by American Express in 1994, this program is designed specifically for current lodging employees and their dependents. Endowed with more than $500,000, the fund has awarded more than $200,000 in scholarships to 178 students.

Eligibility Criteria

• Enrolled full- or part-time.
• Must be working a minimum of 20 hours per week at a AH&LA member hotel with at least 12 months' hotel experience OR be a dependent of a qualified employee and have past employment in some capacity in the hospitality industry.

If you need help confirming your hotel's AH&LA membership, email Crystal Hammond, manager of the Foundation's programs, at chammond@ahlef.org. Include the full/formal name of the hotel with which you're affiliated, complete mailing address, and name of general manager.

Scholarship Awards
Baccalaureate Majors - $2,000 full-time enrollment; or $1,000 part-time
Associate Majors - $1,000 full-time enrollment; or $500 part-time

American Express Scholarships are Self Nominated which means students do not have to attending particular school or be nominated by their respective schools. Applicants must complete all sections of the AH&LEF Scholarship Application.
