Program Description
The HSBC-North America Scholarship Program is available on a competitive basis to sophomore’s and current community college students who will be transferring to a four-year college or university the upcoming academic 2008-2009 year. Award amounts are $2,500.
Please note that these scholarships are designated for the fall term of 2008. Students will have the opportunity to participate in up to two summer internships at HSBC.
Eligibility Requirements
* Be of Hispanic heritage
* Be a U.S. Citizen or a legal permanent resident with permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired)
* Be a current undergraduate sophomore or a current community college student planning on transferring to a four-year college or university and will be a Junior status the upcoming academic school year
* Must be enrolled full-time in a degree-seeking program at an accredited U.S. college or university in the U.S., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or Guam
* Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale (or 4.00 on a 5.00 scale)
* Must be majoring in one of the following: Accounting, Actuarial Science, Advertising, Public Relations, Business, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems (CIS), Computer Science, Economics, Finance, International Business, Marketing, or Management
* Must reside in one of the following areas: Los Angeles, CA (LA, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura); Monterey/Salinas, CA (Salinas); San Diego, CA (San Diego); Tampa, FL (Hernando, Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinella); Jacksonville, FL (Nassau, Duval, Clay, St. Johns); Chicago, IL (Cook, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, LaSalle, Will, McHenry); New York, NY (Bronx, Kings, New York, Queens, Richmond); Las Vegas, NV (Clark); Phoenix, AZ (Phoenix-Mesa); Wilmington, DC (New Castle); Bridgewater, NJ (Sussex); or Chesapeake, VA
* Must submit a resume
* Have applied for Federal Financial Aid
* Be pursuing first undergraduate degree
