[USA] The Hyatt Hotels Fund For Minority Lodging Management Students
Overview
In 1988, Hyatt established this fund to provide financial aid to minority students pursing a degree in hotel management. Over the years, Hyatt has continued its investment to permanently endow the fund, currently valued at more than $800,000. Since 1988, approximately 200 minority students have received nearly $400,000 through this scholarship. The Hyatt Scholarship is a national competition among minority students enrolled in baccalaureate hospitality management programs.
Eligibility Criteria
- Enrolled in at least 12 credit hours for upcoming fall and spring semesters, or just the Fall semester if graduating this December.
- At least a sophomore in a four-year program
- The competition is open to minority students: African-American, Hispanic, American Indian or Alaskan Native, and Asian or Pacific Islander.
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident.
Scholarship Awards
Scholarship winners receive a $2,000 award and plaque. In 2006, a total of 18 scholarships were awarded.Do not apply for 2008 academic scholarship or attempt to edit an existing 2007 academic scholarship. The Foundation will not review any academic scholarships reviewed between May 2 - December 31. If you are interested in applying for 2008 scholarship, you must do after January 1, 2008.
Application Process
Hyatt Scholarships are Self Nominated which means students do not have to attending particular school or be nominated by their respective schools. Applicants must complete all sections of the AH&LEF Scholarship Application including Appendix A.Recent Recipients
